The dominant player in the fresh food section, PP

Both hot and cold! PP dominates the fresh food section with an absolute advantage

In the fresh food section of the supermarket, as far as the eye can see, it is almost all PP plastic boxes. The reason for choosing PP over PET, PS or paper is mainly based on the perfect balance between safety, durability and cost.

  • Paper type: Afraid of water and oil. Applying a layer of lamination film will increase the cost.
  • PET: Transparent, low heat resistance, mostly used for cold drink bottles or cold food that does not require heating.
  • PP: Heat resistance temperature 100°C - 120°C, good "toughness" and impact resistance.
  • PS: Transparent, brittle in texture, foamed PS (polystyrene foam) has good heat preservation, but poor heat resistance.

PP is one of the relatively high-value and stable materials in the current recycling system. It offers an all-round solution that is "refrigerable, frozen, microwaveable, oil-resistant, non-breakable and low-cost".
